Requirements for Container/Dumpster Enclosures
- There are no specified guidelines/requirements for the number of dumpsters one can have.
- There are no special enclosure fees required from Recology Auburn Placer.
- Plans for dumpster enclosures must be sent to Recology Auburn Placer for review and approval.
- Dumpsters must be set up for automated collection. The type of trucks that pick up bins are front-loading with automated forks that come down over the top of the truck, "stab" the dumpsters and lift them over the top of the truck to empty them.
- Trash enclosures must be a minimum of 14 feet deep and 11 feet wide.
- Sanitation vehicles must have a straight shot to dumpsters.
- Sanitation vehicles are 32 feet long and have a 45 foot turning radius.
- Approaches to enclosures must have a minimum of 60 feet of clearance for a truck to pull in and out of the enclosure.
- There should be a curb around the sides and back of the enclosure approximately 6 inches wide.
- Gates have to be able to open 180 degrees with pins on both gates long enough to go into the ground. The pins must be able to hold the gates in position while the container is being emptied.
- Any enclosure for food service must have an enclosure with a clean 11 foot opening and a 16 foot depth for the grease-rendering container to go behind the trash container.
- Doors must be mounted so that they clear all landscape curbing.
- If there is going to be a drive-through, the enclosure has to be built so the truck still has access to the enclosure.
- These enclosures must be built for solid waste only, not for other types of storage.
